Bird Rock Coffee Roasters (BRCR) finally opened its much-anticipated fourth location yesterday in Del Mar. With existing outposts in Little Italy, Bird Rock, and Bay Park, this is the local roaster’s first foray into North County and the first new site to launch since BRCR was acquired last year by PT’s Coffee Roasting Company co-founder Jeff Taylor.

Taylor told Eater that the company’s growth plans include more northern expansion, with a focus on coastal regions. The 1,000-square-foot Del Mar cafe, which includes a 1,000-square-foot patio, is its first waterfront spot, perched across from the Torrey Pines Reserve and lagoon. Open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the cafe incorporates elements of coffee education into its design including a screen showing coffee-related videos. It will serve Bird Rock’s core menu of coffee and espresso drinks, with upgraded food offerings to come. The Del Mar branch will be the only one of its locations to feature the exclusive single-estate Finca Santa Ana Rose Geisha. It will be available at the pour-over bar starting Tuesday until supplies last.
