The ‘glamping’ trend has touched down in the backyard of a longtime 30th Street bar. The underutilized back patio at The Air Conditioned Lounge has undergone a transformation into a retro-modern venue dubbed ‘The Glampisphere’. Owner Gary Collins created the space, which holds for 77 guests, to function as an alternative to a staid conference room or hotel banquet room. In addition to now taking reservations for business meetings, corporate retreats, and private events, The Glampisphere also open to the public from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

There’s an elevated bar, which can be stocked with liquor, beer and wine, plus a sail-shaded cabana and communal tables; firepits and a waterfall help set the scene. It’s also kitted out with all the latest tech, including flat screen TVs, outdoor speakers. and high speed WiFi. Guests can bring in their own catering company, or use one recommended by The Glampsiphere.
