Saffron Thai to Open in La Jolla

Mission Hills mainstay Saffron Thai will be opening its second outpost (outside of the airport) in June 2018 at 1055 Torrey Pines Road, near downtown La Jolla.

“I’m thrilled to expand Saffron to La Jolla,” says founder Su-Mei Yu in a statement. “Customers have been asking me for years to add more locations, but I haven’t found the right opportunity until now.” Yu has been a long-time La Jolla resident and adds that she’s excited to be able to provide her food to her neighbors on, “this side of San Diego.”

Last year, Yu joined San Diego hospitality firm Karina’s Group, which owns restaurants like Karina’s Mexican Seafood, Savoie Italian Eatery and Karina’s Ceviches & More. The new space was previously occupied by a Chipotle and will be larger than the original location, clocking in near 2,000-square-feet. The menu is expected to be mostly similar to the Mission Hills location.
