Jollibee, an enormously popular Filipino-style fast-food chain, will open a large new restaurant in Mira Mesa. Founded 40 years ago in the Philippines, the company has thousands of stores around the world; it first expanded into the U.S. in 1998. Its signature dishes include Chickenjoy, or seasoned fried chicken, the sweet-sauced hot dog-studded Jolly Spaghetti, Yum Burgers, and Halo-Halo, a classic shaved ice treat.
Though there used to be a small outpost of Jollibee in Mira Mesa, it shuttered back in 2013. A branch exists in National City, but the incoming eatery will be more in line with the modern design of its newer openings. The 3,200-square-foot site will include an outdoor patio and a drive-thru. The project, which is in the permitting stages, will land on a yet-undeveloped lot on Mira Mesa Boulevard; it’s slated to open in the second quarter of 2019. And the National City outpost will reportedly undergo a remodel.

Said Mesa Centers’ Brett Feuerstein, “After really learning about Jollibee, we couldn’t be more excited to bring such a strong Filipino brand to Mira Mesa. The time and energy they are putting into this beautiful new building will help ensure that this is a spot that the community will be enjoying for years to come.”
