Fans of Great Maple will undoubtedly flock to its newly-minted location at Westfield UTC, where its photogenic 5,000-square-foot space with 1,500-square-foot patio sits on the perimeter of the mall along Genesee Avenue. The modern American eatery with distinct Southern California sensibilities is designed to appeal to all audiences, says co-owner Amanda David, who helped develop the brand in tandem with her father Mark and local restaurateur Johnny Rivera (Hash House A Go Go) and runs the more petite “dinette” version of Great Maple in Hillcrest.
Serving lunch and dinner daily, plus an exceedingly popular brunch on weekends, chef Peter Alatorre will also cook up a daily fish special, seasonal soup, and healthier options, including charred cauliflower hummus, for the La Jolla audience. But don’t fear, Great Maple’s signature made-to-order maple bacon doughnuts and individual apple pie will also be available here as well as other indulgences ranging from a chocolate doughnut sundae with salted caramel and vanilla bean ice cream to a rotating roster of housemade pies.
An updated cocktail menu will be featured here, ranging from its famous bear-shaped glass filled with espresso martini to shareable drinks including a bottle-sized portion of the new Rose-All-Day cocktail with Grey goose melon vodka, rose, aperol, and watermelon juice and pitchers of micheladas.
