The iconic, ever-trendy California avocado will be the centerpiece of a new multisensory experience launching in San Diego this summer. Opening June 16 and running through August at Liberty Station is the CADO, a pop-up created by locally based creative agency & Boom Unlimited and sponsored by the California Avocado Commission. Designed to be mobile, it will travel to other cities after debuting here. Crafted from 16 shipping containers, it will encompass seven rooms installed with large-scale interactive art including a “Ripe Room” with textured “avocado skin” walls, a futuristic, avocado-themed grocery store, a grove of real California avocado trees, and bites featuring the fruit from San Diego restaurants.

General admission tickets must be purchased in advance and go on sale today at 10 a.m. via the Cado website. When the pop-up launches in June, it will operate Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with family-friendly tours offered on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.
