Queensborough Shutters Its Two-Level Gaslamp Cocktail Lounge

Another industry casualty has hit the Gaslamp with the recent closure of Queensborough. The big-budget project debuted last summer, backed by a team of hospitality veterans and designed by leading local firm who transformed a tired downtown pub into a swanky, New York City-inspired two-level nightlife hub.

The upstairs bar featured classic cocktails and a menu of elevated bar bites while the club downstairs was a plush, 6,000-square-foot space that offered build-your-own barrel-aged cocktails and live music. But the whole package just didn’t connect with the Gaslamp at present and its audience. Co-owner Shane Brennan (Omnia, Searsucker, Herringbone, Holsem Coffee) shared, “The bottom line is the concept and clientele we were going for at Queensborough has no interest in coming downtown and we were not interested in transforming our concept into one where the clientele matched the current scene.”
