With four outposts already thriving in the Los Angeles area and 30 cafes across the country, La Colombe Coffee Roasters added San Diego to its ongoing West Coast expansion by touching down at Westfield UTC over the weekend. Joining the ever-growing local specialty coffee market, the East Coast company’s new 890-square-foot free-standing location sits at the entryway to The Pointe, UTC’s new primarily food-focused wing. Open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the glassed-in pavilion features seating around its perimeter.

Knows as one of the pioneers of third wave of coffee, the Philadelphia-based company will serve as well as retail both its signature classic blends and the single-origin coffees that are part of its Workshop line, including one roasted at its new Los Angeles facility. In addition to a quick-service menu of espresso drinks, there’s also a pour-over bar and a tap system that dispenses its famous Draft Latte, cold brew, and a higher-octane version of the latte; try the Pure Black and Tan, a drink that tops the cold brew with a creamy head of draft latte. As at all locations, there is a self-serve station for both still and sparkling water. The cafe also carries canned versions of the Draft Latte, as well as Liquiteria cold-pressed juices and pastries from local Nutmeg Bakery.
