Eater readers have asked us for an update on the incoming Gen Korean BBQ, the first San Diego-area branch from a chain that has locations throughout California plus outposts in Hawaii and Las Vegas. The all-you-can-eat restaurant will be sizable, slotting into a 6,525-square-foot space in the Mira Mesa shopping center that also houses Edwards Cinemas.
At several of its restaurants, dishes are delivered to your table by robots that roll up via a conveyor belt system; the chain is also known for its upscale atmosphere, which includes leather seats and clubby music and lighting. The cook-it-yourself menu features everything from marinated bone-in short rib to red wine pork belly, beef tongue and spicy baby octopus; the all-your-can-eat option is $16.99 at lunch and $24.99 for dinner, with seatings limited to two hours.s Gen Korean BBQ will also offer beer and soju. The Mira Mesa location is currently scheduled to open this April.
