As part of a recently-announced nationwide expansion that will take them across six states and double the company’s footprint, including 30 new branches in Texas and 11 in Orange County, Dog Haus is gearing up to open 13 locations in San Diego County. The “craft casual” chain, which was founded in Pasadena in 2010, first landed in the East Village in 2016 and recently debuted a Dog Haus Biergarten in downtown Vista.

Local franchisees Scott and Henry Lee intend to roll out three of the 13 San Diego area outposts in the next calendar year; Chula Vista is confirmed for a 2019 opening. The eatery specializes in gourmet hot dogs, including the Sooo Cali topped with wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions, and spicy basil aioli as well as handcrafted sausages, 100% Black Angus beef burgers (and vegan versions), and fried chicken sandwiches all served on King’s Hawaiian rolls. Beverages range from milkshakes to a large selection of craft beer.
