Louisiana Purchase, a restaurant and bar opening on University Avenue, has a new due date of January 2019. It’s being developed by Grind & Prosper Hospitality, the group behind Miss B’s Coconut Club in Mission Beach, Carlsbad’s Park 101, and the East Village’s soon-to-come WhipHand American Brasserie + Beer Bank. Spanning the ground floor of The Louisiana building, the restaurant and bar is being designed to blend multiple indoor and outdoor spaces, including a courtyard and wrap-around patio.
Serving dinner from 4 p.m. to midnight and offering brunch starting at 11 a.m. on weekends, Louisiana Purchase’s Big Easy-inspired menu will be under the direction of Grind & Proper culinary director Quinnton Austin, aka Chef Q, an alum of the Culinary Institute of New Orleans who recently moved to San Diego. Dishes will include barbecue shrimp with sweet potato cornbread and savory alligator cheesecake with crawfish cream sauce. Grind & Prosper partner and bar manager Rob McShea is designing the cocktails, which will include Southern classics like the Sazerac or Ramos Gin Fizz as well as over-the-top party drinks that would be at home on Bourbon Street.
