North County is booming with incoming food-focused projects, including One Paseo, the Windmill Food Hall and The Sky Deck, which are quickly filling with both local and national tenants. Eater’s hearing about another venue in the works between Carlsbad Village and South Oceanside that will have even more opportunity for food vendors.
Breaking ground early next year, Lagoon will sit at 2110 South Coast Highway on the Buena Vista Lagoon; spanning 15,000-square-feet, it will hold office space upstairs and retailers on the lower level. Its developer is Brendan Foote of Fabric Investments, who created the space for Lofty Coffee’s Little Italy expansion and transformed the building that will house Jeune et Jolie, Campfire’s soon-to-open French restaurant in Carlsbad Village.
Foote tells Eater that he’s hoping to sign a variety of experiential retailers for the mixed-used complex, which will undergo a major remodel feature a Japanese-inspired mid-century modern facade. With lagoon and ocean views, it’ll also include surfboard and bike storage on the property. Among the potential tenants he’s seeking for the seven 1,000-square-foot units, which could also be combined, are a coffee bar, a bakery, a juice bar, and a beer tasting room.
