The original Pacific Beach location of Barrel Republic is finally getting a full food menu. Launching on Wednesday, November 28; it’s a major upgrade from the popcorn machine that was previously the bar’s only snack option. The Garnet Avenue tasting room, where guests pour their own glasses of beer from more than 40 taps, first opened in 2013; a recent remodel added a kitchen annex, which enables to bar to serve the dishes currently offered at its branches in Oceanside and Carlsbad.
Created by executive chef Michael C. Brown, the food offerings includes snacks like ghost chili potato chips and garlic butter pretzel bites to shareable starters ranging from bacon-wrapped pork belly to pistachio-crusted lamb meatballs. There are also salads, flatbreads, burgers, and sandwiches including the crispy avocado grilled cheese and vegan wild mushroom French Dip.
