Several bars and eateries under the CH Projects umbrella are decking the halls early this year, with elaborate, holiday-themed makeovers that will debut this Friday, November 23, the day after Thanksgiving. Miracle, the Christmas cocktail pop-up bar that will touch down at more than 80 bars around the country, is returning to Polite Provisions. Running through December 30, it’ll offer a kitschy extravaganza of tinsel and festive decorations as well as seasonal cocktails inspired by Christmas songs and classic holiday movies including the Bad Santa, a warm sipper which combines applejack and manzanilla sherry with apple cider, lemon, cinnamon syrup, popcorn and bacon butter, and baked apple bitters. Check out a photo gallery of last year’s pop-up here.
Other CH Projects bars getting into the holiday spirit include Little Italy’s Craft & Commerce and False Idol. Through Tuesday, January 1, both bars will be dressed up as icons from the fantastic world of Dr. Seuss. Craft & Commerce will turn itself into the fictional town of Whoville, with a Whoville Winter Wonderland setting for a holiday cocktail menu, featured in addition to its everyday menu, that will include Silent Night, Mole Night, a mix of graham cracker-infused bourbon, averna, lemon, vanilla, mole bitters, and toasted marshmallow. And tiki palace False Idol will be transforming itself into the proper lair for the Christmas-stealing Grinch.
Also joining in on the fun is Soda & Swine in Liberty Station, where the pie shop is being made over into the ultimate gingerbread house. Santa will be in residence, and diners who bring a gift donation for Toys for Tots will get a complimentary picture with Santa from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays; for the naughty, a drunk Santa will be posing for free photos on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to midnight. Tuesdays and Thursdays will offer cookie decorating from noon to 3 p.m. and Sundays will feature a marathon screening of Christmas movies.
