Mira Mesa’s growing food landscape is gaining a new sushi spot with the opening of Little Sakana. Scheduled to debut in December, the 4,000-square-foot restaurant will be located across from Crab Hut in the Village of Mira Mesa complex and is owned by Tuan Nguyen, who runs the Pokeland location in the same mall, and Jenna Hu, co-founder of the ICMonster ice cream shops in Mira Mesa and Kearny Mesa.

Hu says Little Sakana, which will be open for lunch and dinner, is aiming to provide an elevated yet affordable take on the all-you-can-eat concept, which will feature mix of traditional nigiri and sushi rolls plus teriyaki bowls, fried rice, ramen, and udon. All sushi and the other menu items will also be available a la carte, along with occasional specials

Inside the space, there will be a 20-seat sushi bar as well as two private rooms which can accommodate parties of 20 guests. Little Sakana also wants to be a hangout spot for the neighborhood, with a bar pouring beer, sake, cocktails, and punch bowls and DJs spinning on Friday nights.
