After six years in its original Park Boulevard spot, sandwich experts Big Front Door (BFD) have moved to a brand new location in the neighborhood. As the anchor tenant of Park & Polk, a recently-completed 54-unit multi-use apartment building, BFD now has a footprint that includes a 1,600-square-foot corner space for the shop and a 700-square-foot patio.
Co-owners Steve and Laura Riley have transferred over their menu of hot and cold sandwiches and salads and are working in tandem to develop new sandwiches and other dinner dishes that will debut shortly. The eatery is currently open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. but will extend its evening hours to 8 p.m. starting next week. On November 12, BFD will add breakfast service beginning at 8 a.m. Coffee from Cafe Moto will be offered along with breakfast sandwiches and assorted baked goods.
Big Front Door, which also runs the food component at Bottlecraft in Solana Beach, is working on being able to pour beer and wine in the Park & Polk space. It will have six taps, with five beers and a cold brew.
