A wellness enthusiast with a well-fed Instagram account is channeling her love for health and fitness into a new eatery that will debut by early December in Pacific Beach. Powerhaus Pizza is opening on Garnet Avenue in a 1,200-square-foot former Papa John’s space, which has been thoroughly remodeled for a beach-y, California feel. Owner Anisha Blodgett, who recently traded coasts from New York City where she was a real estate analyst, created the eatery to bring a more healthy focus to the fast-casual, customizable pizza model.

Powerhaus will offer 10-inch pizzas and a range of crust variations, from a traditional yet gluten-free version, a cauliflower crust, and a dough that will be enhanced with plant-based protein. Toppings will include a range of vegetables as well as vegan cheese, grass-fed dairy, and natural meats. Beyond the build-your-own option, there will be eight signature pizzas, including a barbecue chicken pizza with chicken, fresh pineapple, corn, red onion, and part-skim grass-fed mozzarella that’s also available with vegan chicken and cheese and a Mediterranean pizza made with organic tomato sauce, kalamata olives, artichokes, roasted red peppers, red onions, spinach, feta, and part-skim grass-fed mozzarella.

Serving lunch and dinner, the eatery will also offer takeout and delivery service. The menu will be rounded out by a superfood salad and smoothies as well as a bar with kombucha and other beverages on tap.
