A fixture in the South Park community since 2013, Buona Forchetta has launched a wine bar called Enoteca Buona Forchetta just a few steps from its flagship restaurant. It’s the first of several new projects from owner Matteo Cattaneo opening around the city. Styled like a classic Italian bottega, the cozy 800-square-foot space has seating for 20 and pours a rotating list of wine that’s focused on small Italian producers as well as Italian beers on tap and in bottles.

Dine-in items include cheese and charcuterie boards, salads, and tapas but there is an emphasis on providing both ready-made meals and essential Italian ingredients to neighborhood residents. Buona Forchetta’s pizza dough, regular and gluten-free, will be sold, plus home made pasta sauces, dried pasta, and housemade preserves. And the Enoteca will offer pre-packaged versions of dishes from Buona Forchetta’s menu that can be easily prepared at home. Desserts, including custom-made cakes, will also be available.

Eater also has an update on Cattaneo’s other upcoming projects, from a restaurant coming to Coronado to North County’s first Buona Forchetta, which is currently scheduled to debut this week in Encinitas. Also slated for South Park, a breakfast spot and bakery that replaces Rebecca’s, is now timed for an early 2019 opening and will be followed by yet another addition, a new barbecue venture coming to 2314 30th Street. Created in partnership with Antonio Kawage, a former racing instructor, the eatery will serve various styles of barbecue in both traditional and more upscale preparations.
