One of San Diego’s longest-running Chinese restaurants served its last meals on New Year’s Eve. Emerald Chinese Cuisine first opened in 1992 with a menu of Cantonese classics and dim sum; in 2015, the Convoy Street restaurant was remodeled, with a new bar and lounge space added. Emerald’s owners, who are retiring from the restaurant industry, have also shuttered their Rancho Bernardo restaurant, Pearl Chinese Cuisine.
Eater readers have eaten their last burritos at Mexican Fiesta in Little Italy. The small walk-up eatery with a simple, serviceable menu that was cash-only, shuttered over the holidays after more than 35 years of business on India Street. The stand-alone building and adjacent parking lot will make way for a new 150-unit apartment building.
And in La Jolla, Le Petit Bistrot has closed after just a year and a half in operation. The French bistro opened last May on Girard Avenue.
