A decade after first opening in Kearny Mesa, Crab Hut has expanded its popular and always-busy Convoy location. The eatery, one of the local originators of the seafood boil, has taken over and remodeled an adjacent space in its complex, adding 1,000-square-feet plus 32 more seats and enlarging its total footprint to 3,700-square-feet, says co-owner Kim Phan.
There’s also a new craft cocktail bar. David Tye, Crab Hut’s beverage director who also oversees the cocktail programs at their Mira Mesa and downtown San Diego locations, says the Convoy menu is a blend of bestselling drinks from the other branches and some fresh additions including the Ginger Pina Colada made with Malahat Spirits Ginger Rum and the Tribesmen Joy made with vodka, lime and champagne syrup. To celebrate the launch of bar and restaurant’s expansion, all of Crab Hut’s regularly-priced cocktails will be $7 starting today through Sunday, February 4.
