¡Salud! Tacos, which opened in Barrio Logan in 2015 and since become a fixture of the neighborhood as well as a standout San Diego eatery that’s even been singled out by The New York Times, is expanding. Its flagship location, which occupies a historic building on Logan Avenue, is adding another 2,000-square-feet of adjacent space. Called the La Bamba Room, it will feature an expanded menu, weekend brunch and a full bar.
The eatery, which draws lines on the regular for its menu based on well-priced, well-made tacos plus ceviche, nachos, mulitas and daily specials ranging from pozole to empanadas, is also opening a second location in the Midway District. ¡Salud! is taking over a 5,000-square-foot venue on Midway Drive with parking included that last housed Kristy’s MVP Sports Bar.
The Midway site, which will also feature the expanded menu, brunch and full liquor service, will also be the home for San Diego Taco Company, the local catering outfit that spawned the original ¡Salud!. The restaurant says that both the Barrio Logan expansion and new Midway eatery should hopefully be up and running by June.
