Owned by Bowlmor AMF, which operates more than 300 bowling centers in the country, AMF Eagle Lanes in San Marcos has been remodeled and transformed into a new outpost of Bowlero, the company’s “hipster-inspired, retro-awesome” entertainment venue. Spanning 35,000-square-feet, the space now includes 40 lanes of blacklight bowling, 20 high-definition video walls that screen movies, music videos and sporting events, and an arcade that holds 25 games, beer pong and cornhole.
There’s an updated lounge area and a new sports bar, stocked with flat-screen TVs, offering specialty cocktails that include classics like the Mai Tai and Moscow Mule and a fishbowl-sized drink called the Dunk Tank and serving a food menu ranging from appetizers to salads, sandwiches pizza and burgers. Popular for large groups and parties are its over-the-top shareables including the giant Behemoth Burger, which weigh a hefty five pounds and measures 14 inches. Open daily until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Bowlero San Marcos has a grand opening scheduled for Saturday, October 14 that will include free bowling and gaming; 10 guests can even enter to win the opportunity to bowl with football champ Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman.
