Hard Rock Cafe Sets Downtown Closing Date

It will exit the Gaslamp this December

Yelp/Soo H.

Hard Rock Cafe San Diego will close at the end of this year just a few months shy of its twentieth anniversary. Part of Hard Rock International’s global chain of themed eateries that are decorated in rock and roll memorabilia, the cafe first opened on July 28, 1998 at the corner of Fourth Avenue and F Street in the heart of the Gaslamp. It offers a basic menu of burgers, sandwiches and salads and features DJs and live music on weekends.

The company will shutter the cafe in its current location on December 31, 2017 but leaves the door open for a potential return, sharing in a statement:

San Diego is an important market for Hard Rock International and we are committed to our presence in the market with the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. We are actively exploring other opportunities and expect to bring the cafe back to the area at the right time and in a new great location.
