The Patio Group Partnering With Downtown Boutique Hotel

Hotel Republic will house three new eateries

Downtown’s former W Hotel, now operating as the Renaissance San Diego Hotel at 421 West B Street, is officially turning into Hotel Republic San Diego after the completion of top-to-bottom renovations. Independently-owned by the Rockpoint Group and management company HEI Hotels & Resorts, it’s part of Marriott International’s boutique Autograph Collection Hotels.

Debuting in full in mid-October, the 19-story, 258-room hotel has been transformed by locally-based Bluemotif Architecture and Los Angeles interior design firm Forchielli Glynn. Providing the culinary component is The Patio Group (Fireside, Harvest, The Patio, Saska’s Steakhouse) which will run three dining destinations on the property offering daily breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus late night bites.— Patio Marketplace, a quick-service all-day café, Topside Terrace Kitchen & Bar, a rooftop bar and lounge with city views, and Trade, a cocktail bar and restaurant, with the hotel’s executive chef Amol Thanky (The St. Regis SF, Restaurant Gary Danko) overseeing the eateries. The Patio Group will also be involved with in-room dining, providing Swell Coffee Co., its locally roasted, small-batch coffee, to guests and restaurant patrons.
