A compact outpost of local Japanese eateries RakiRaki Ramen and Pokirrito is scheduled to debut this Wednesday, September 13 at Liberty Public Market. Chef/creator Junya Watanabe runs stand-alone versions of the popular ramen restaurant and sushi burrito shop on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa, where he’s gearing up to open a Japanese hand roll bar, and also operates a combo of RakiRaki and Pokirrito that opened last year in Little Italy.
Part of a recent surge of new Liberty Public Market vendors that includes the just-opened Doughballs and Crackheads, the RakiRaki/Pokirrito food stall is adjacent to Italian snack bar Roma Express. Fashioned like a stand-up ramen bar, its menu is surprisingly robust, featuring six varieties of ramen including its signature chicken-based broth, plus poke bowls, sushi rolls, teriyaki burritos, salads, curry-topped rice bowls, Japanese fried chicken and more.
Its hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m to 8 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
