Taking a prime corner space spanning 4,500-square-feet in the Mercado del Barrio mixed-use development is new Attitude Brewing Company. Its owner, Kurt Bach, is a recent transplant from Portland, Oregon, with more than 30 years of homebrewing experience and close ties to the brewing industry. An avid fishermen, Bach was drawn to Barrio Logan for its close proximity to Baja and the opportunity to create a bi-cultural craft brewery and eatery that can serve as a hub for the community.
Launching later this year, the brewery will have a locally-known brewer at the helm of its seven and a half barrel system. They will make a large variety of beers, ranging from a Czech pilsner to German lager and Imperial Double IPA, that will all have Spanish as well as English names. Bach says among his goals is eventual distribution to Mexico, where he hopes to help expand craft beer awareness.

In addition to a 24-tap tasting room that will serve true pints priced at $5 or $6, the space will also house Attitude Gourmet Wraps, Burgers & Beers, a casual eatery offering a menu of wraps based on tortillas in flavors including tomato-basil and garlic-herb. There will be everything from a Baja-style wrap with rice, beans and corn to a Philly cheesesteak wrap — even grassfed beef burger wraps. Future satellite locations will serve the gourmet wrap menu as well as Attitude beers. Location Matters’ Mike Spilky, who represented the tenant, said “This is a very exiting project from a passionate brewer and the perfect location for Mexican-style craft beers.”
