In the “things that exist” file you can now include Trailer Park After Dark. Owners Nader Marvi and Rosana Nanci owned a bar/club in San Francisco before moving down to San Diego to create a 5,000-square-foot subterranean bar located below Fifth Avenue that brings a “relaxed and modern twist” on the trailer park theme. The look is assembled with thrift store furniture, bar stools made from shopping carts and seating fashioned from wheelbarrows. There are even four repurposed vintage trailers; one houses the kitchen while the other three have been transformed into private dining areas that can also be reserved for special events
Chef Kelly Waters’ menu carries on the theme, with Frito pies topped with chili and cheese, tater tots with dipping sauces, mac and cheese, and “meat tubes”, aka hot dogs, that include the Junkyard dog with cheese, bacon, onion, tomato and jalapeno. Sandwiches range from a scratch-made Sloppy Joe to a meatloaf melt with onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Trailer Park After Dark also features a full bar with local craft beer on tap. And there’s entertainment offered nightly, including DJs, karaoke and foosball played with actual humans.
