Joining the already-killer lineup at Westfield UTC which includes Shake Shack and Din Tai Fun is Sweetfin Poke, one of Los Angeles’ most popular poke pros. The hip California-styled, Hawaiian-inspired eatery has opened seven locations up in the LA-area since first launching in 2015 and counts former Top Chef contestant Dakota Weiss, once named "Best New Chef" by Angeleno magazine, as its founding chef/partner.
Weiss has created an all-raw fish menu for the fast-casual eatery, which includes signature or build-your-own bowl options. Touting a “Pole to Bowl” philosophy, it sources high quality and sustainable fish for dishes like Classic Tuna with white and green onions, sesame seeds, red chile and Spicy Yuzu Salmon with yuzu kosho sauce, edamame and lime. DIY bowls can be created with a base of green bamboo rice, kelp noodle/cucumber slaw or citrus-kale salad, and there’s also vegetarian poke with ponzu-lime sauce, sweet potato, carrots, avocado, cucumber and serrano.
San Diego’s first Sweetfin Poke is scheduled to debut this October in Westfield UTC but a rep for the company says founders Alan Nathan, Seth Cohen and Brett Nestadt hope to eventually open more locations here.
