Salazar’s Fine Mexican Food, an East Village staple since 1972, will sadly shutter this week. A tipster and longtime patron of Salazar’s alerted us to the closure, and the restaurant confirmed to Eater that this coming Sunday, July 23 will be its last day of service. The restaurant and its adjacent parking lot have been sold to make way for a new development on Market Street.
Open seven days a week from 6:30 am until 9 p.m., the eatery serves breakfast all day — a mix of diner basics and Mexican classics including chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. For lunch and dinner, there are daily specials plus American sandwiches, tacos, burritos, tostadas, enchiladas and more that can be combined into hearty combo platters. Margaritas and beer are also available.
