Landing in October at Westfield UTC along with a slew of other marquee name restaurants is locally-based Napizza. The fast-casual eatery, which specializes in ‘pizza al taglio’ — a Roman-style variety baked in large rectangular trays and sold by the square slice — opened its first location in Little Italy in 2012 and co-owners Giulia Colmignoli and Christopher Antinucci have since launched outposts in Encinitas, Hillcrest and 4S Ranch.

The new 1,219-square-foot restaurant, which has a 400-square-foot outdoor patio, is being designed by Matteo Raspagni of ere2 creative solutions to be a sleek and modern space with wood plank walls and pendant LED lights made out of recycled wine bottles; it will also be 3-Star Green certified by the Green Restaurant Association.

Serving both lunch and dinner, the restaurant’s menu will also include salads, soups and desserts. Napizza plans to host community nights for non-profit organizations and monthly pizza classes; the eatery also does good by donating all its leftover pizza to the local food bank every day.
