Getting access to fresh local beer without leaving your living room just got easier with the launch of Hopsy, a new craft beer delivery service that just opened a retail store and distribution center next to Ballast Point’s Home Brew Mart in Linda Vista. The startup, which was founded over a year ago in San Francisco, has already been delivering beer from 20 San Francisco Bay Area breweries throughout California and now officially adds San Diego breweries to the mix. Current local partners are Coronado Brewing Company, Benchmark Brewing, Belching Beaver Brewery, Mike Hess Brewing and Kensington Brewing Company, with more expected to be added soon. .
Enabling its customers to access small batches of craft beer that might usually only be available at tap rooms, Hopsy delivers 32 ounce glass growlers and two-liters TORPs to homes or offices; the TORP canisters are made to be used in conjunction with a countertop home tap system developed by KRUPS® called THE SUB®, which purports to keep the beer fresh and carbonated for up to two weeks.

Hopsy co-founder and CEO Sebastien Tron tells Eater that in addition to placing delivery orders online, customers can also stop into the retail store to pick up growlers and TORPs; the shop will also sell 350 and 750ml bottles of barrel aged and sour beers. No beer will be poured on site, but there will be kombucha and cold brewed coffee for customers to sample via THE SUB® draft machine. Tron says Hopsy’s next market will be New York, where the service is expected to land this summer.
