10,000-Square-Foot Dim Sum Restaurant Heading to Mira Mesa

Look for it to land this summmer

Eater has word about a huge new dim sum palace being built inside the Mira Mesa Shopping Center at Camino Ruiz and Mira Mesa Boulevard, in a complex which houses a Target as well as popular eateries 85C Bakery Cafe and Sandwich Emporium.

Called Fung Fung Yuen, the Chinese restaurant is slotting into the large building that previously held HomeTown Buffet, which closed early last year. Its owner Simon Lee is a veteran restaurateur with over 30 years in the industry; Lee currently runs Japanese eatery Sushiya in Chula Vista. He told Eater that he is completely remodeling the space, which will have Asian-inspired decor and furnishings and an upscale feel. Though the restaurant’s menu is still in development, Lee shared that it will focus on authentic dim sum; he may offer dim sum all day, via roving cart during lunch service and ordered from an a la carte menu at dinner. Look for Fung Fung Yuen to open this summer.

Mira Mesa Shopping Centers’ partner Brett Feuerstein said, “We are excited to be part of bringing this concept to Mira Mesa. The interior design plans look amazing, and with Simon’s restaurant experience we are expecting great things.”
