LoungeSix, the poolside patio and bar atop Hotel Solamar in the East Village, has been renamed Upper East Bar. With the name change comes an entirely new look and fresh food and drink offerings for the rooftop companion to signature ground floor restaurant Jsix. Scheduled to make its debut on Friday, May 26, the beach chic space now sports all new furnishings, from cushy couches to communal seating, to pair with a menu from executive chef Anthony Sinsay, a well-admired local chef who joined the East Village hotel and restaurant last June.

Sinsay’s menu for Upper East Bar is available from noon to to 10 p.m. on weekdays and leans towards shareable plates including crab and avocado toast, citrus-soy beef skewers and an ever-changing daily ceviche. Larger dishes range from an over the top “ridiculous” grilled cheese to the J6 Burger, a spin on In-N-Out’s Animal Style creation. The bites are paired with a new cocktail menu that features the cayenne-spiked Blood Orange Margarita and the French Kiss, a mix of ruby grapefruit, Lillet Blanc and sweet Moscato d’Asti. Monday nights are for fans of the bubbly stuff; a promo dubbed “Veuve Around the Clock” offers a glass of Veuve Clicquot for $5 at 5 p.m., $6 at 6 p.m., $7 at 7 p.m. and $8 at 8 p.m.
And Upper East Bar has a brand new weekend brunch menu, served Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.. On the sweet side, there’s housemade sticky buns and peanut butter French toast fries while a farmer’s market fritatta and eggs Benedict bites anchor the savory end. Expect to also see live music programming, interactive bar games, and special events.
