RakiRaki Ramen & Tsukemen is hitting the road and heading up to the Bay Area. A tipster pointed us to a post on Hoodline indicating that the San Diego-based noodle shop is one of two new Japanese eateries in the works for the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Owner and executive chef Junya Watanabe, who runs the RakiRaki Ramen and Pokirrito locations in Kearny Mesa and Little Italy, confirmed to Eater that RakiRaki will land at 3282 Mission Street into the space formerly occupied by Ichi Sushi + Ni Bar before it moved back to its smaller original storefront at the end of last year.
Watanabe says that San Francisco’s first RakiRaki, which will feature its signature menu ramen including original tonkotsu, super premium chicken broth and Setegaya curry plus rice bowls, sushi rolls, yakitori and small plates, is scheduled to open by early July. craft beer, wine and sake. On the local front, the chef is gearing up to launch j/wata Temaki Bar, specializing in high-end sushi hand rolls, in the spot adjacent to RakiRaki on Convoy Street.
