Liberty Public Market Launching Weekly Outdoor Farmers Market

It debuts this Thursday, May 4

Robert Benson

The just over a year old Liberty Public Market will expand its presence in Liberty Station with a new weekly California Certified Farmers Market that debuts this Thursday, May 4 across from the food hall at Sims Road and Decatur Court. Also managed by Blue Bridge Hospitality, the outdoor Liberty Public Farmers Market will feature over 60 vendors ranging from local produce growers to food artisans; running year-round every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. the state-certified farmers market will be providing complimentary market totes to the first 1,000 shoppers on grand opening day.

There is room for expansion but the market will start with 17 California Certified farmers, ranchers and producers including local produce grower JR Organics and regional market favorites Da-Le Ranch, Smit Farms and Spring Hill Jersey Cheese. Joining them will be 30 specialty food purveyors and 20 artisan gift merchants, plus live entertainment from local musicians.

Liberty Public Farmers Market will host monthly pop-up tastings, cooking demos and more; it will also be the focal point of a “Shop With The Chef” dinner series, in which a local chef will lead guests in a shopping trip through the market before preparing a market-driven meal for diners at a Liberty Station restaurant. Blue Bridge Hospitality’s executive chef Tim Kolanko will be the first featured chef when the series launches in June or July. And a charitable component will see a portion of the market’s weekly proceeds going to Outside The Lens, a Liberty Station-based non profit organization that teaches digital media, videography and photography skills to local youth.
