New Outdoor Venue and Event Space Popping Up in Mission Valley

LOT 8 breaks ground

A vacant parking lot in Hotel Circle is in the process of transforming into LOT 8, a 4,200 square-foot urban open-air event space that will sit adjacent to The Atwood Hotel, which replaced the Mission Valley Travelodge and the iconic Albie’s Beef Inn and Adam’s Steak ‘N Eggs combo last year. The outdoor venue is being developed by chef Nick Brune, who ran Local Habit in Hillcrest, in partnership with The Atwood’s owner Todd Ferrari, who also operates Quad AleHouse in the Gaslamp and Little Italy’s Urban Boutique Hotel, and John Carey, owner of Platinum Party Rentals.

Slated to be complete by mid-May, the 300-person capacity site is being designed as a customizable option for private events — able to host everything from weddings and corporate events to food and beer fests, retail pop-ups and cocktail parties. A repurposed horse trailer will be used as the bar and the kitchen will be housed in a shipping container, with the venue’s walls bordered by vertical gardens and a succulent wall; Brune’s catering outfit Eco Caters, which specializes in seasonal menus sourced from local farms and pastures, will be LOT 8’s on-site culinary provider. Outside of private events, the team also plans to create signature food and drink events that the public will be able to attend.
