Park Boulevard’s popular sandwich destination Big Front Door is expanding to North County, launching the food component within Bottlecraft’s newly soft opened Solana Beach bottle shop and tasting room; this weekend from 4 to 9 p.m. marks the debut of Big Front Door’s menu which pulls signature hot and cold sandwiches from its flagship eatery including the Cali Cubano with house cured and smoked pork loin and the Sonoran Chicken stuffed with chicken breast, poblano, jack cheese, corn salsa and chipotle aioli, and adds a cheese board, smoked wings and chili. Bottlecraft, which officially grand opens on April 1, will have hours of operation from 3 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday; BFD will offer its food program from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Chef/owner Steve “Sheep” Riley is also still working on Big Front Door’s larger new sit-down restaurant in the Bankers Hill neighborhood. Riley tells Eater that the construction process is getting underway after some delays and that he expects the project to be completed in six months.
