Female Chefs, Winemakers & More Gather at CUCINA enoteca

Plus, a comedy show/vegan dinner & a whiskey fest

DEL MAR— To honor Festa Della Donna, the Italian version of International Woman’s Day, an impressive lineup of San Diego’s top female chefs will team up with West Coast female winemakers, brewers, and distillers at CUCINA enoteca for an event scheduled on Sunday, March 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Pairing stations will offer tastes from chefs including A.R. Valentien’s Kelli Crosson, Extraordinary Desserts’ Karen Krasne and Grand Restaurant Group’s Amy DiBiase served alongside sips ranging from beer from Stone Brewing Co.’s Laura Ulrich to spirits from Laura Johnson, owner and distiller of new East Village’s new You & Yours Distilling Co. The afternoon will include live music from Steph Johnson Band and the Sounds of Our City Choir and an interactive art experience by artist Sohani Holland. And a portion of the proceeds will benefit two local organizations that support women in need, the Lawyers Club of San Diego Fund for Justice and the Center for Community Solutions. ENCINITAS— Sign up for dinner and show this Friday, February 24, when vegan restaurant EVE will offer an organic three-course meal and a live show from internationally touring sketch comedy duo We Are Thomasse, known for their popular digital sketch Awkward Exes: Britain & America. LA JOLLA— Spirit fests have returned to Hiatus Lounge at Hotel La Jolla. The first, dubbed WHISKEY! A Grain & Oak Festival, will be held on Sunday, March 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the poolside lounge. In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the event will feature almost a dozen premium and unique whiskeys and cocktails offered with a special menu of seasonal dishes.
