Breakfast Republic Says Good Morning to the East Village

More eye-opening eats and drinks for the neighborhood

One of San Diego fastest-growing eateries cracks open its fourth location this morning. Joining existing outposts in North Park, Liberty Station and Encinitas, the just-launched Breakfast Republic in the East Village spans nearly 3,000-square-feet on the corner of G Street and Seventh Avenue.

Rise and Shine Restaurant Group founder Johan Engman tells Eater that he plans to plant 10 to 12 locations of the popular daytime spot in San Diego before taking the concept to Orange County and Los Angeles; a fifth outpost will land mid-April in Ocean Beach with a sixth coming to Carmel Valley in May, and Engman hinted that another could be in the works for North County.

Those familiar to the concept will find all its signature playful design details here along with its crowd-pleasing menu of sweet and savory breakfast plates; adjacent to the dining room, the bar stocks 20 taps of craft beer, sparkling wine, kombucha and cold brew coffee. As with all other Breakfast Republic location, it will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Engman, who is in the midst of planning a large-scale Mexican restaurant called El Jardin in Liberty Station, also has another morning-centric concept up his sleeve. North Park Breakfast Company should be opening on University Avenue by mid-May.
