On Monday, December 18, George’s Level2 is throwing an anniversary party that will also serve as the launch of a new cocktail menu that’s been a year in the making — Neighborhoods of San Diego is a glossy hardbound book that will function as the La Jolla bar’s cocktail list for 2018.

Inspired by acclaimed bars ranging from San Francisco’s Trick Dog to The Dead Rabbit in New York City, which have both been awarded the World’s Best Cocktail Menu title at the Tales of the Cocktail®, the book was created by George’s Spirits-Beer Director/ Barman Stephen Kurpinsky in partnership with General Manager Sam Peters, Assistant General Manager Christian Ortiz, and the Level2 team.

With photography taken primarily by Kurpinsky, the book is a tribute to San Diego and the neighborhoods that make up this region, with 23 communities — from La Jolla to Golden Hill, Kearny Mesa and San Ysidro — represented through 23 original craft cocktails. Shot on location, the cocktails are pictured with a recipe, brief history on the neighborhood and background on how it inspired the drink, and shoutouts to the team’s favorite restaurants and bars in the area. Printed locally, the book will be available at the bar for $25. Kurpinsky tells Eater that Neighborhoods of San Diego is just volume one of a series; going forward George’s Level2 will be releasing more cookbook-style concept menus.
