Bankers Hill is getting a slice of the East Coast courtesy of a new pizzeria. Sisters Pizza’s founder is neighborhood resident Emily Green, a local teacher who was prompted to pursue a passion project and make the switch to first-time restaurant owner after the passing of her sister Kate. Originally from the East Coast, the sisters were frequent dining partners, and Green says she wants to create a space that will celebrate her sister’s memory and bring another casual and accessible food option to the surrounding community.
Due in April 2018, the 1,000-square-foot eatery, a former salon, will have indoor and outdoor seating. Its New York-style pizza, ranging from classic toppings to specialty combos, will be sold by the slice or available as 16”, 18” and 21” whole pies. Green is working with consulting chef Alex Carballo (Moto Deli) on the Sisters Pizza menu which will also include salads, mix-and-match pastas and sauces, grab and go food items and chicken or eggplant parmesan sandwiches. Serving beer and wine, Sisters Pizza will also offer a Sunday brunch of breakfast pizzas and bottomless mimosas.
