First opened in 2006 as the signature restaurant of luxury hotel Tower23, JRDN brought upscale dining to the beach, with a sleek indoor/outdoor space offering ocean views and a menu based on California cuisine. Now, over a decade in, the restaurant is planning to shutter temporarily after the holidays for a refresh.
JRDN will be closed from January 2 to February 9 while Tower23 will be shuttered January 3 and 4. Owner Eat.Drink.Sleep. (EDS), the local group that also runs nearby Belmont Park, will be updating the restaurant with new furnishings throughout, decking out the the dining room in “elevated beach chic” design. The kitchen will also be upgraded, with the big addition of a glass-enclosed sushi kitchen that will provide all-new sushi options to join a revised menu of steak and seafood dishes.
“We will start 2018 with an eye towards reopening with a refreshed look just in time for Valentine’s Day and the start of the spring travel season,” said Brett Miller, EDS’s President and CEO. “This is our flagship hotel and restaurant and we are committed to ensuring our atmosphere is on trend and that we are offering the best dining experience not only along the coast but in San Diego.”
