A new distillery and restaurant in North Park is taking to crowdfunding to get the project to the finish line. 619 Distillery & Tasting Room, which is in construction at the corner of 30th Street and Lincoln Avenue, just launched a NextSeed campaign, which offers investors financial dividends in addition to bonus rewards including gift cards, tickets to an exclusive investor launch party and free access to special events, in return for their support in raising the capital to complete its buildout and develop new products. Founder Nick Apostolopoulos has been making Six One Nine Vodka locally since 2012; it’s distilled from cane sugar, making it gluten-free, and is available in variety of all-natural infusions using local ingredients.
The 4,200-square-foot space will span a distillery housing a custom-made two-column 1,000L still and a tasting room, bar and restaurant with dog-friendly patio. The bar will offer a large cocktail menu featuring Six One Nine spirits as well as drinks highlighting Southern California’s craft distillery community. The company also plans to expand its product line to include cellos, liqueurs, syrups, schrubs and bitters. Chef Sean Ames is developing a menu to pair with cocktails, ranging from carnitas tacos to pasta with housemade Six One Nine vodka sauce. Planning to operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends, 619 Distillery & Tasting Room is currently slated to open in April 2018.
