Beloved Seafood Spot Blue Water Landing in Ocean Beach

Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill, a fixture on India Street since 2004, will open a second location in Ocean Beach.. This long-awaited expansion for one of the originators of the casual seafood eatery and market combo is also a hometown return for Blue Water founders, brothers Matt and Judd Braun. Bringing Blue Water back to their native Ocean Beach has always been a dream, says Judd Braun, who tells Eater that Blue Water has created new partnership with local restaurant development group Social Syndicate, which will collaborate with the Brauns on this project and continue to help grow the brand.

The 2,500-square-foot eatery is slotting in next to two Social Syndicate restaurants, Wonderland Ocean Pub and OB Surf Lodge, in a plaza that will soon be upgraded with a new stage for local performing artists and refreshed decor. Slated to open in Spring 2018, it will feature an enclosed dining patio and an in-house seafood market, which will retail fresh fish and fuel Blue Water’s casual menu, which ranges from smoked fish and poke to seafood-based sandwiches, salads, plates, and tacos that can be customized with a variety of seasonings and sauces. Avid fishermen, the Braun brothers often stock the market with their own fresh catch in addition to working closely with the local fishing community.

Braun also said that they plan to eventually update the original India Street spot in an ongoing effort to make the bustling space more environmentally conscious.
