Olala Crepes, which joined the food mix at Liberty Public Market earlier this year, is branching out into the Gaslamp. Owner Samuel Icyk, who hails from the south of France, tells Eater that the creperie will open downtown in January in a 1,000-square-foot space on 5th Avenue. Icyk is currently developing new items that will be offered at both locations, including waffles and more varieties of savory and sweet crepes including varieties made with fresh fruit, cinnamon and French chestnut spread. Coffee, fresh juices and other drinks will be sold, as well as an array of gourmet European pantry items.
Olala Crepes is on track to launch one or two new locations every year; Icyk says a third spot might go into North County, and he plans on expanding throughout San Diego before taking the eatery to Orange County and Las Vegas.
