La Colombe Coffee Roasters, which has a presence in the specialty coffee markets of Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and Philadelphia, has added San Diego to its West Coast expansion plans and will open an outpost in Westfield UTC later this fall. The Philadelphia-based high-end coffee brand is currently taking over Los Angeles as part of a well-funded, multi-year plan to open more than 100 locations around the county.
The third wave coffee company is part of Westfield UTC’s $600 million renovation, which includes an impressive group of new hospitality projects. La Colombe will be a tenant at The Pointe, a yet-to-open shopping and dining district adjacent to the just-opened Nordstrom, housed in a central space that includes a large outdoor seating area. Also calling The Pointe home is The Winery out of Orange County, which will operate an upscale wine country-themed restaurant and a stand-alone wine bar. A rep for La Colombe tells Eater that they are slated to open in mid-to-late November.
