Originally scheduled to launch this week, the first-ever San Diego Shake Shack will officially open on Friday, October 20 at 11 a.m. The global burger brand with a fervent following — last month’s pop-up at Modern Times Beer drew more than 1,000 burger fans — is debuting at Westfield UTC next to the swanky new Nordstrom.

Ushering in an impressive fresh crop of eateries at the expanded complex which include Din Tai Fung, Great Maple and Larsen’s Steakhouse, the Westfield UTC Shake Shack will serve its menu of classics ranging from all-natural Angus beef burgers and chicken sandwiches to griddled flat-top dogs, frozen custard and crispy crinkle cut fries. Specific to this location will be frozen custard concrete infused with sweet treats from North County’s Elizabethan Desserts and Betty’s Pie Whole, plus local beers from AleSmith Brewing Company, Stone Brewing, Mission Brewery and more.

San Diego’s next Shake Shack is coming to Mission Valley, where it will be part of a new mixed-use development. The eatery is currently scheduled to open by the end of the year.
