A new food vendor making the rounds at breweries around town is focusing on the art of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Founded by lifelong friends, Bread & Cheese Catering is made up of “Head Cheese” Justin Frank and “Head Loafter” Devin Gneiting, who launched the business after the shutter of S&M Sausage and Meat, where Frank was the director of operations.
The menu features four different sandwiches, each grilled on sourdough and dressed with its own homemade aioli, including the Mucho Queso with four kinds of cheese and garlic aioli and the fiery Burn-A-Nator with pepper jack, spicy salami and enchilada aioli on jalapeno-cheddar sourdough. Gild the lily by going for the secret menu option, which also griddles cheese on the outside of the sandwich.
Bread & Cheese also makes a coconut curry-infused variation of grilled cheese’s perfect partner, tomato soup. The catering company is booked at various breweries — check its Facebook page for a current schedule — and has a standing date at North Park’s weekly Thursday farmers market.
