More than a year after a two-alarm kitchen fire shuttered restaurant operations back in September 2015, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill is back in business in La Jolla. It’s a sentimental return for founder Sami Ladeki; though his Ladeki Restaurant Group now counts 28 Sammy’s Pizza locations across California and Nevada, the Pearl Street eatery was his first — originally opening in 1989.
Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza is planning a grand re-opening on Monday, January 30 that will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Ladeki, Councilmember Barbara Bry and the La Jolla Town Council at 11 a.m.. And to celebrate the eatery’s return, Sammy’s is giving away kid-sized versions of its signature dessert, the Messy Sundae®, free with a purchase from January 30 to February 5.
