Jinya Ramen Changes Hands in Pacific Beach

The eatery undergoes a name change & more

Take a Gander at Jinya Ramen's First San Diego Noodle Bar

A little over a year after opening its first eatery in San Diego, JINYA Ramen Bar has cut ties with its Pacific Beach location at 825 Garnet Avenue. An Eater tipster notified us of the switcheroo, which just happened this week. The ramen company, which now has locations in both Canada and the U.S., including five outposts in the Los Angeles area, was first founded in Tokyo in 2000.

According to currently ownership, the split was a “mutual agreement”. The restaurant will now be called Menyu, and its menu will be altered slightly to remove any of JINYA’s signature dishes. The prices will also be lowered. How will this recent event will impact JINYA’s future presence in San Diego? The company also has a long-simmering project in Hillcrest on University Avenue that was supposed to include another JINYA Ramen Bar and a izakaya-style eatery called Robata JINYA; we’ve reached out to its reps for comment and will update with more information.
